Video: Hutchy gets the sam treatment (Plus the real news)
Craig Hutchison was on the Footy show last night and he was speculating and interviewing and possibly crying.
He started off with an interview with the girlfriend of injured Tiger, Graham Polak. The interview wasn’t anything special apart from to hear that Graham is doing well and slowly doing a few of the normal things of life. The highlight of that interview though was when Hutchy asked this question: “Was it good to see that positive signs through out the week?” Purhaps surprising to Hutchy the answer was that the positive signs were good to see. I a pretty sure if he had asked if the negitive signs were bad to see, she would have said yes to that as well.
Video: Cousins interview
On the footy show, Ben Cousins did an interview with Gary Lyon. Here it is curtosy of Nine.
June 26, 2008: Gary Lyon interviews Brownlow medallist, premiership hero and disgraced footballer Ben Cousins.
Congratulations to Nine, Hutchy and the Footy Classified team for listening to my idea!
One of the great segments on Footy Classified is the “Beat the Press” Segment. I think it is great that the people that have stories and questions asked of them get to ask the questions back! One thing that I put to Hutchy last year was that you sometimes could tell the segment was heavily edited and that I had a feeling with the advancements of the Web that Nine/Hutchy (who was publishing the edited show) could publish the unedited show and it would be great to watch!
This year the segment has returned and the great thing is that it is now available in its unedited form! I watched the first segment (with 3 coaches) in the edited form and then with the unedited form. I loved it! The edited form knocks out about half the recording (from 27:52 to 13:56). Some of the stuff that came out that I thought it would is that some questions that look one way when edited make more sense when watched unedited. Just one example of this is Mark Williams question about how the Jornos stay informed. The feel of that question totally changed when you heard it in the full context!
So congratulations to Nine and Hutchy (who gets the net and I hope that he and Eddie are pushing Nine with there web offerings) for doing this and I would love to see them expand it to other things like the interviews that they do.
What do you think? Do you see value in this extra edition?

Funny Man, Not so Funny Problem
For many years now, a Thurday night during footy season involves watching the Footy Show on Channel 9. Do I watch it for Eddie or now Garry and James breaking the story? Do I watch to see what the teams are for the week? No and No. Mostly I watch to see what Sam Newman is going to do and who is going to take the piss out and to see what funny situation he is going to get himself into on street talk. In the last few weeks Sam was diagnosed with Prostate cancer and rather then me explain, have a look at this video of a 60 Minutes story by Sam’s good friend, Eddie MacGuire.
Sam Newman’s struggle with prostate cancer has been captured by his mate, Eddie MacGuire.
