UPDATE (Tuesday 13th March, 2010 6:24pm)

The tribunal case of Lance Buddy Franklin has been held and the result is in. The tribunal have found that he didn’t get off. Unsuccessful in challenging his case. They argued that he didn’t have any other options. He argued that he was trying to turn and change direction. Collingwood the big winners in this case.

—————

UPDATE (Tuesday 13th March, 2010 5pm)

With Buddy just entering to face the tribunal, the AFL have announced that they looked at the Lenny Hayes umpire touchy, touchy and that there was no case to answer.

—————–

UPDATE (Tuesday 13th March, 2010 11:20pm)

Lance Franklin and Andrew Swallow will challenge there Charges.

—————————–

UPDATE (Monday 12th March, 2010)

Match Review Panel decisions are in! Would say the Hawks will risk the 40 points and give it a go! How did Didak not get fined for his dive!

————————————–
Could be a really interesting week at the Match Review Panel (MRP) with the fall out of Mick Malthouse’s comments on Friday night and the level of physicallity across the course of the weekend. There are some Hawks fans a little nervous over a bump that Buddy laid on Sunday. So we will wait for the details of all the findings which should be available later in the day.

Other incidents assessed:

The match day report laid against West Coast’s Ashley Hansen for striking North Melbourne’s Daniel Wells during the second quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. It was the view of the panel that Hansen’s arm was extended in a tackling motion, not a striking motion and that the force used was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.

Contact between three Melbourne players and Adelaide’s Patrick Dangerfield from the third quarter of Sunday’s match was assessed. The panel said that Dangerfield had the ball in a contested situation and was attempting to move through a pack when he was gang-tackled by three players and taken to ground. The tackle by the Melbourne players was one action only, with the momentum of the players taking Dangerfield forward. The Melbourne players did not sling Dangerfield to the ground in the tackle. No further action was taken.

Contact between the Western Bulldogs’ Jarrod Harbrow and Hawthorn’s Jordan Lewis from the second quarter of Sunday’s match was assessed. The panel said that both Harbrow and Lewis had their eyes on the ball at all times in the lead-up to contact being made. Harbrow spoiled the ball before contact was made with Lewis. His actions were deemed a legitimate attempt to spoil the ball. No further action was taken.

Contact between St Kilda’s Lenny Haynes and umpire Shaun Ryan from the second quarter of Friday’s match was assessed. Hayes briefly put his hand on umpire Ryan’s shirt sleeve when talking to him. The umpire did not pay a free kick for the contact and did not report the contact occurring, as part of his review of the game. It was the view of the panel the contact made by Hayes did not interfere with the umpire performing his duties. The assessment of the panel was that there was minimal to negligible contact and the action was not in any way demonstrative or threatening towards the umpire. No further action was taken.
