Video – Footy Classified – Caro vs the Boys Club over James Brayshaw

April 16, 2008 by Molly · Leave a Comment

Monday rolled around and there was a lot of The Boys Club (Gary, Hutchy and Glen) vs Caro. One issue that brought this to the front was the fact that Roos Chairman, James Brayshaw, didn’t go to the game after calling for all the members to turn out due to his commitments to call the footy on Triple M.

This was the game that was moved back from the Gold Coast after the Roos decided not to go to the Gold Coast. I came out all week that they needed to get 30K worth of supporters to turn up to justify the move and they could only manage 23k!

Caro mentioned that she was suprised that he wasn’t at the game. The suprise isn’t that from the fact alone that he wasn’t at the game as much as it was that he called for people to turn up and then not turning up himself.

But enough of me, have a look at the video below.

James Brayshaw missing in action

April 14, 2008: The panel discusses Caroline Wilson’s criticism of James Brayshaw for not attending North Melbourne’s game on the weekend.

What do you think? Was James in the wrong or is Caro blowing it out of proportion? Comment below.

Sam over steps the mark on Caro, but Lyon should be ashamed!

The Footy Show was born of a time when Channel 9 didn’t have the rights to the Footy and thought that they could make a successful footy show with no game coverage but by having current day players talking about the issues of the game.

It worked. Partly because of Eddie McGuire’s ability to break big stories but mostly because of the pure brilliance of John “Sammy” Newman and what he could bring to the show.

Last year, Nine lost the rights and again tried to create a new football show to keep its footy relevants up. This time Footy Classified was born with co-hosts Gary Lyon (who at this time is also co-host of the Footy Show) being paired with Craig Hutchinson joined by Caroline Wilson and Wayne Carey.

The show was somewhat successful and continued to this day (with Archer replacing Carey). Last year Caro copped her fair share (perhaps more then her fair share) of ribbing about her looks (especially her braces on her teeth) and her dress. Even with all this, the past weeks Sam’s Mailbag took it to a new level. Have a look at the video below and towards the end, Sam takes the bagging of Caro’s dress sense to a whole new level!

Sam’s Mailbag

April 3, 2008: Sam takes a look into the mailbag for the week.

Personally I don’t know whether you can blame Sam for this as its his job and its in his nature to play this sort of prank. To me Gary Lyon should take a good hard look at himself. Gary is the host of both the people involved (Sam and Caro) and so should have stuck up for his colleague, Caro. He could have easily told Sam to lay off or even checked with Caro if this was going to effect her as badly as it did. There was talk on Monday morning that she had quit the show. In the end she was still on the show but looked disappointed when it was discussed and Lyon said that he apologised to Caro earlier. If the video of this becomes available, I will put it on the show!

What do you think? Did Sam go to far? Is Caro being to sensitive? Should Gary have stopped Sam?

Alastair Clarkson owns Hutchy. Did he cry?

Famously last year Alastair Clarkson had a run in with Craig Hutchinson after his interview on Footy Classified. Monday night, AC was back again and this time he owned Hutchy on air!

Alastair Clarkson in the hot seat

March 31, 2008: Alastair Clarkson, the Hawthorn coach talks to the panel about his flying start to the season.

Hutchy starts off trying to get Clarko to say that Buddy is a handful when he isn’t! Then he does his best to stir up trouble in true Hutchy style! He asks AC if he is worried about the fact that he hasn’t been resigned yet. AC returns that its not an issue and that it will happen when the time is right. Hutchy tries again and AC tells him to take a chill pill!

The funniest thing about this is that Hutchy (and the rest of the media to be fair) tried this same story 2 years ago when AC was in the last year of his first contract. At that time Hutchy got owned by Jeff Kennett who said that they would look at his contract at the middle of the year. Hutchy for one attacked and attacked but Jeff and Clarko continued the point that it would be looked at in the middle of the year. Surprise, Surprise (only to the media and Hutchy), the middle of the year came and AC was resigned (even though after 4 wins out of 5 to start the season, the Hawks where on a losing streak).

AC has coached the Hawks to 5th last year and 2 impressive wins to start the year. I think it is fair to believe that the Hawks will resign Clarko when the time is right!

Hutchy, if your going to try and drum up controversy, how about trying to make it current controversy not rehashed failed version from two years ago!
