Molly’s Tips for Round 16
Here are my tips for Round 16. I may change these during the round so don’t take them as gospel. Use them at your own risk (tips in bold):
- North Melbourne vs Collingwood: Going Collingwood but if you are after a roughy for this week, North are the best of them
- Geelong vs Western Bulldogs: You lose Ablett and Ling and still have Kelly and Prismal come in and David Johnson, Ryan Gamble and Shannon Byrnes as emergency. This should be a ripper!
- Richmond vs Essendon: Some good outs for Essendon, will really miss McVeigh. Richmond showed they can cover Richo. Should be close.
- St Kilda vs Hawthorn: Rewoldt has to play close to goal to put the pressure on the Hawks defence. All eyes will be on Buddy early to see if he has his kicking boots on. Bateman is a huge in for the Hawks. Could be a late change, with Lewis named as an emergency
- Brisbane vs West Coast: Brisbane has too much to lose. Look at Browny for Dream Team/Super Coach captain this week
- Carlton vs Sydney: This is a toss up. First look would have Swans easy but Carlton are on the rise and Sydney haven’t beat any big names this year. Could go either way.
- Port Adelaide vs Adelaide: This should be a ripper. They hate each other but the Crows have too much to lose. Watch for Goodwin and Thompson to play forward more this week.
- Fremantle vs Melbourne: Your guess is as good as mine. Let me give you a lesson. I am picking Fremantle which is your queue to pick Melbourne! I can never get the dockers right!
Best of luck with your tips
Bet you it was my Uncle! Hawks betting enquiry

It is being reported that a Hawks player has come to the club with news that a family member had used his betting account to bet on the footy. This was reported in the Herald-Sun. The player is reporting that a relative used his account to bet on AFL matches although it isn’t being reported whether they were Hawthorn matches or not.
The player is believed to have played on the weekend but had yet to be named. Footy Operations manager, Mark Evens had made a statement saying the club believes the player.
“Hawthorn can confirm that a player came to us about a series of bets made on a betting card in his name by a relative,” Evans said last night.
“We believe the player’s story.”
AFL footy operations manager, Adrain Anderson was aware of the issue but isn’t willing to comment at this time.
“I’m not willing to go into any detail.”
This comes a year and half after 4 players where found to have betted on footy, the worst of them being Simon Goodwin of Adelaide and then Melbourne player, Daniel Ward.
I am sure we will hear more of this in the next few days.
