The notorious footylover18 was m0nty’s guest on this Monday evening. As always when these two get together there are fireworks, especially when discussing the topic of “What is wrong with Dream Team?”

The debate was germinated in the late withdrawal of Hamish McIntosh on the weekend, which made m0nty so livid that he committed to advocating that the Dream Team competition move to an unlimited trade model in an effort to completely ban donuts from future competitions. No prisoners, and no donuts! Footylover18 defends the existing structure from m0nty’s multifarious probing attacks. Then the two boys chew over what should happen with the entry of the Gold Coast FC next year with byes and a whole host of fresh players.

That was supposed to be the whole show, but footylover18 launches a counterattack on m0nty’s own DT efforts, pinning him down on exactly why he has chosen to put his neck out chasing a unique-flavoured team with plenty of mature-aged rookies. m0nty fires back with his own salvoes about fl18’s pet strategies, including going too safe to win the cars. Then it gets really good!

There’s no round review given this is a special show – there will be a normal show later in the week with Molly – but footylover18 does end up giving his opinion onRyan Hargrave towards the end of the show.

So as a lot of you know I am a Co-Host of the Coaches Box AFL DreamTeam and SuperCoach Podcast. I have been saying for the last few weeks that one option for a midfield downgrade is to bring in Dylan McNeil who has MidField/Forward eligibility and swap him with a forward you have that has the same. Someone like Pavlich, O’Keefe or Paul Chapman. Assuming you have good bench midfield and your Forward bench is a bit weak (as lots probably are by now), you can use those Bench Mids and Chapman to cover both your Forwards and Mids. Below is a little tutorial/explaination of how that works. If you have any questions, let me know in the comments.

This will be a huge blow in both DreamTeam and especially SuperCoach (where Gaz is coming off a mighty 170 odd point performance last week). Lots of coaches were already looking at donuts with the raft of injuries/droppings of mid-fielders, especially popular rookies such as Dustin Martin and Broddie Moles. The other thing to make sure of is that you switch out captaincy choices if you have him as your permanent Captain! This could also make things interesting for those folkes in the DreamTeam Eliminator!

It’s a big week for Molly and m0nty and fantasy coaches everywhere, and not just because the boys sat next to the Morton brothers in a Prahran rice den on Monday night…

m0nty first gives his mea culpa about FanFooty site problems on Monday – he was at the game and there was a technical hitch – and he and Molly discuss the thread about it on BigFooty. This segways into some rather gratuitous discussion of iPads.

Round 2 is all ways a challenge for the Fans doing tipping and especially DreamTeam and SuperCoach! The round will stretch from Thursday until Monday. So if you have a Cat or Hawk that you have some doubts about, you will have a long wait ahead of you and will have to take a bit of a guess on it.

So when will the teams be available? Here is the schedule:

Wednesday 5pm will see the release of the teams for the Thursday night game
Thursday 5pm will see all teams and Squads released with final teams for the Saturday Matches
Friday 5pm will see final teams for the Sunday Match and Saturday at 4pm will see the Hawks and Cats side finalized.  Don’t forget to return to the site to see the teams as they come to hand!
