    I like most of your arguments, but your mid-season draft from other competitions idea treats them pretty poorly!
    2nd tier competitions have grown accustomed to having their star players ripped away from them at the end or beginning of a season.
    But to have them removed in the middle of a season could destroy their team structure and affect the development of promising rookies in the resultant turmoil..
  • I understand your argument but in many ways isn't it fair to give players every opportunity to make it too the top level? For example, perhaps a ruckman that keeps missing out, might be slightly too old to get a first chance at being a teams 4th or 5th Ruckman but if at mid point (as is the case with the Lions (although they are arguably improved by their current ruck setup) and Bombers) if 3 or 4 of there ruckman are down, perhaps they would draft that ruckman, give him a chance show his stuff and maybe forge a career. Having said that, I am more interested in the possibilities of a mid-season trading!
