What a great round but it didn’t really change a lot in the middle of the field. Pretty much all the favourites won except for Collingwood and they paid a heavy price with a 4 place drop. Geelong and Hawthorn lived up to expectations and a poll of site uses (which I agreed with) said that even their yips and only beating an extremely undermanned Hawks line up by 8 points was good enough to keep them at number 1. Carlton backed in their top 8 prediction, but should be tested more this week by a travelling Lions side.
The big slippers? Richmond. Their performance as much as the result means they dropped to bottom of the ladder (well that and Melbourne at least showing a little). They have the cats and Western Bulldogs in coming rounds so its going to be hard to force their way out of that position. So here it is, my rankings for round 1. What do you think? Please leave comments below with Who I got right and who I got wrong and who you think will be the big movers next week. Will do a poll to see if you agree with my number 3 pick!

| Questions are being asked of their forward line but why when they have such a talented Midfield. Won’t kick that bad again. | ||||

| Lost with players out. Franklin and Roughead could carry them till the defence returns. Not playing at SCG will help them this week | ||||

| You keep a side goalless for 2+ quarters and you stay at number 3. Still have room to improve with St Nick taking week 1 off (sort of) | ||||

| Will accept argument they should be higher. Murphy out for a month could hurt them but a great start | ||||

| Beating Pies in Melbourne means you jump 2 spots. Young players all played well. Have Saints this week, could jump higher. | ||||

| How long will Terry survive now that he has the full support of the board? Deledio needs to play better and Richo needs to be more dangerous! Hey, at least you ain’t 9th Tiger fans | ||||
If the rankings are based on the one round only, then yes – Richmond were woeful and deserve to be last, and Bulldogs would be third.
St.Kilda can go either way – I’m not all that keen on them. I like the Doggies more, as I feel the Saints aren’t as strong across their best 22. Time will tell.
I’d almost put Melbourne above Sydney and Essendon, based on performances in round 1. The Dons will most likely be woeful this season. Demons could have the better kids of those two clubs.
Good effort again Molly!
